Description
Quick Details
ETFE MEMBRANE ROOF SYSTEM
(SPECIALIZED FOR STADIUMS)
The project is a large-scale stadium roofing development located in Conakry, Guinea. It adopts a modern tensile membrane structure system, integrating steel cables with a supporting framework to achieve an ultra-large-span roof. The membrane structure not only provides shade and weather protection but also creates a light and open spatial atmosphere. Its distinctive form and dynamic curved surfaces give the stadium a striking identity, making it a landmark feature of the city’s architectural landscape.

Project Technical Solution

Structural System
The project adopts a Tensile Membrane + Cable + Main Steel Structure hybrid system. The cable-membrane system works collaboratively to achieve a lightweight, large-span roof. The overall structure weighs only 1/10–1/5 of a traditional roof, effectively reducing foundation load and construction costs.

Membrane (PTFE)
Features a high light transmittance of 8–12%, allowing soft natural light inside. It also provides excellent UV resistance, weather durability, and self-cleaning ability, significantly reducing long-term maintenance.

Cable System
Made of high-strength galvanized steel cables, ensuring reliable tension and structural stability for safe performance under large spans and complex climatic conditions.
Project Highlights & Advantages

Iconic Architectural Appearance
The membrane structure’s unique curved form combined with dynamic light and shadow effects gives the stadium a distinctive identity, making it a city landmark.
Lightweight Large Span
The ultra-large-span roof minimizes internal columns, providing an open viewing space that meets the needs of sports events and other activities.

Long Service Life & Low Maintenance
PTFE membranes last much longer than PVC. With only regular cleaning and inspection, they ensure stadium longevity and reduce operational costs.
High Safety Performance
Designed for large-span spaces, PTFE membranes are strong, tear-resistant, waterproof, and fire-retardant, ensuring safety under wind and rain loads.

Durable & UV-Resistant
PTFE membranes resist UV damage, whiten within 30 days, and maintain a clean, bright appearance for over 25 years, ideal for high-UV environments.
