The Qingyuan Olympic Sports Center covers a total construction area of 126,000 square meters, comprising a 30,000-seat stadium, a 10,000-seat gymnasium, and a 2,000-seat natatorium. The design concept, titled “Phoenix Dancing in the Green City,” pays homage to Qingyuan’s cultural identity as the “City of the Phoenix.”

Qingyuan Olympic Sports Center spans 126,000 square meters and includes a 30,000-seat stadium, a 10,000-seat gymnasium, and a 2,000-seat natatorium. Inspired by Qingyuan’s identity as the “City of the Phoenix,” the design—“Phoenix Dancing in the Green City”—features fluid, curved architecture and streamlined platforms that evoke a soaring phoenix over green mountains and rivers.
Project Information
The complex integrates advanced low-carbon and energy-saving technologies. The stadium roof combines modular metal panels with photovoltaic systems, serving both energy and aesthetic functions. The natatorium features a retractable roof with a horizontally rotating mechanism, enabling flexible transitions between indoor and outdoor use—marking the first curved-track opening system of its kind globally.

Since completion, the venue successfully hosted the 16th Guangdong Provincial Games and continues to support major sports events, including football, basketball, and swimming. It also serves as a multifunctional venue for performances, exhibitions, and public use—enhancing Qingyuan’s cultural vitality and sports infrastructure.
